What is functional neurology?

Functional neurology is a branch of health care that is centered on repairing, rehabilitating, and optimizing brain and nervous system function. This can be achieved through a variety of avenues: cognitive, vestibular, and oculomotor (eye movement) rehabilitation, balance exercises, and movement-based training. At its core is the principle of neuroplasticity, defined as the ability of the nervous system to change its activity in response to intrinsic or extrinsic stimuli by reorganizing its structure, functions, or connections after injuries, such as a stroke or traumatic brain injury (TBI). Interested in learning a bit more? I've been dealing with my symptoms for a long time, can this still work for me?

Absolutely! Our unique diagnostic and therapeutic approach has made a difference for patients struggling with debilitating symptoms of dizziness, nausea, light/sound sensitivity, or headaches for months, years, or even decades. Just because you have been experiencing symptoms for a long period, does not mean that you are destined to live with them forever.

What kind of therapies can I expect?

Dependent upon your case, a typical therapy session with our team will incorporate visual and oculomotor, vestibular, balance, and other brain-based exercises. You can expect some form of hands-on treatment in the form of chiropratic manipulation or soft-tissue therapy, as well. We utilize electrostimulation in the form of RPSS (repetitive peripheral somatosensory stimulation) and ARPwave to enhance nerve firing and decrease pain and muscle tone.

How many times do I need to be seen in-office to achieve results?

Great question, it depends! Our therapy recommendations take into consideration many factors that are individual to you. Depending on your health history, and the the severity and chronicity of your condition, we may recommend as little as one therapy appointment per week for a few weeks, or multiple therapy appointments per day for multiple days in a row to help mitigate your issue. At the core of our approach lies the principle of neuroplasticity. In order for sustainable, lasting change to be made, we may have to repeat a therapy or exercise over, and over, and over... until the desired outcome is met. Want to learn more about this approach? Do you take my insurance?

We are an out of network clinic and do not participate with insurance companies. You can expect payment in the form of initial deposit for examination, and completion of payment at time of service. We provide superbills (fee slips) that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement after examination or therapy has been completed.
